Cathedral Arch - COMING SOON
Project type
Landscape
Date
July 2025
Location
St Andrews, Scotland
An acrylic painting on board, 61cm X 46cm, image only.
It was built around 1130 and finally dedicated by King Robert the Bruce in 1318 (four years after the Battle of Bannockburn).
For centuries the Cathedral of St Andrew was the mother church of Scotland and originally housed a relic of St Andrew. Many people travelled from far and wide to undertake the pilgrimage to the Cathedral.
Various religious orders established monasteries in St Andrews and were instrumental in the founding of the university, in 1413. It is the oldest in Scotland and one of the oldest in the UK.
