The mountain's name, Buchaille Etive Mhor, can be translated as the Great Shepherd of Etive. It is an iconic conical mountain that marks the entrance into Glencoe.
For many this is the mountain of mountains, the first or last Munro, the forbidding guardian of the awe-inspiring Glencoe.
It is viewed from Glencoe, one of the great glaciated valleys of the Highlands looking over the River Etive's freezing waters.
